About Cannest Immigration Consulting

Cannest Immigration Consulting is a Korean-Canadian immigration consultancy based in Vancouver. They offer consultancy services for multiple Canadian immigration programs such as Express Entry, PNP, Entrepreneur Visas, Family Sponsorship, study permits, and LMIAs.

They are overseen by Justin/ Jaewoo Shim, a legitimate Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) who appears on the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultant (CICC) registry under RCIC number: R512374.

Having Justin on board goes a very long way in proving the legitimacy of Cannest’s services, as being an RCIC requires ongoing assessments and training to prove your knowledge of Canada’s immigration system.

As with many of the legitimate immigration consultancies we review, Cannest goes out of their way to prove both the legitimacy and effectiveness of their services via written testimonials on their main and about us pages.

They further this by having a regularly updated news section showing their continued attention to any major changes to the Canadian immigration process.

The company primarily focuses on helping Korean immigrants immigrate to Canada, offering a fully Korean version of their website.

However, despite their clear attempts at legitimacy, such as showing their partnerships with the ICCRC (which is now the CICC), the CBRB, Service Canada, and the Canadian government, they do not have an easily accessible privacy policy or terms of service which would do a lot to affirm their legitimacy.

However, they are easy to contact with a “Request an Appointment” form at the bottom of every page.

Website

Their website is simple and easy to use. However, it could benefit from an English editor and checker to cover things like some of their content, typos, and phrasing. Their home page is relatively small but densely packed with information, referencing their services, testimonials, news feed, location, social media, and contact form. However, due to the website's minimalist design, this doesn’t come across as too busy or confusing.

As mentioned earlier, their content on Canadian immigration is relatively limited and often difficult to read, providing only a few aspects of immigrating to Canada without painting the full picture.

Despite their efforts to show their knowledge, much of their content is very light and often difficult to read, often providing only a few aspects of immigrating to Canada without painting the full picture. Most of their pages offer only a few sentences on each program, and their news page does have a few densely packed articles. However, they are very difficult to read as there are no headings, images, breaks, or paragraphs, making much of their website content an impenetrable wall of text.

However, they have a page for each program they cover and their news feed is clearly updated at least once a week.

Social Media

Cannest is highly active on social media, with accounts on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and the South Korean platforms Naver and Kakao Talk.

They are highly active on Facebook, with posts often only a few hours or days apart. The content is mostly in Korean but does discuss latest immigration draws, testimonials, latest immigration news and program updates.

The same can be said for their Instagram, which mostly mirrors their Facebook content. All of their images are highly eye-catching and professional looking.

Their YouTube is also highly active, with weekly uploads presented by Justin Shim himself. They primarily discuss certain aspects of Canadian immigration. While the spoken content is in Korean, they also have full English subtitles for English-speaking customers.

They are also highly active on Naver, which has broadly similar content to their Facebook but more specifically for a Korean audience.

Their Kakao talk profile mostly mirrors their Instagram.

Cannest clearly takes their social media seriously and actively responds to comments and questions on their various platforms.

Conclusion

While Cannest may be a little limiting to non-Korean speakers, it is a very good option for Korean citizens looking to find a new home in Canada. Justin Shim is a highly legitimate consultant who likely has a wealth of experience with Korean-Canadian immigration. While their website could use some work, Cannest certainly seems like a highly legitimate enterprise.
